Buy Your Christmas/Holiday Presents from Artists and Craftsman this Year

The Artist Sunday Movement
A grassroots movement—Artist Sunday–is taking hold!  This year it will be Sunday, Nov 29, 2021, sandwiched squarely between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.

When You’re Doing Your Holiday Shopping, Buy Art!
The message of Artist Sunday simple–when you’re buying presents for folks this year, buy art!  Give people something more personal and unique for the holidays and, by doing so, you’ll be supporting the artists and craftsman of the world.

The Effect of the Pandemic on Artists
Like so many industries, artisans and craftsman were hit by the Pandemic.  Not only were stores and galleries closed, but the markets, festivals, street fairs, and crafts fairs where so many of them sell their work were shut down.

Yay! Craft Markets and Art Fairs Opening Up Again
Thankfully, during COVID many artists and crafts people found online venues like Etsy where they could sell their wares.  And thankfully people bought them!  Sites like Etsy because popular for people specifically trying to find unusual one of a kind handmade gifts.  But now, because we are able to interact with each others outdoors,  we can we can also go back to browsing in person at craft fairs and arts festivals to find fun and interesting gifts.

Find Local Artists, National Artists, International Artists and Buy Their Art
So remember the weekend after Thanksgiving, when you start your holiday shopping, Buy Some Art!

How Do You Find Artists?  Look for local art galleries and art museums.   Or keep your eyes open when you go to cafes, bookstores, and libraries.  They often have rotating art shows.  Or plug into the googles “Artists” and “My town” and see what comes up.  They are many artists within arms length or with a little elbow work who have wonderful one-of-a-kind gifts for the people in your life.
